EVERYTHING POINTS TO A GREAT 2008 COSTA RICA FISHING SEASON
If you are considering a Costa Rica fishing trip sometime in the first four months of the New Year, the time to call me is NOW.
As of November fishing has been excellent on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts – Dan Ross and two buddies, fishing with Captain Eddie Brown out of Tortuguero, got 60 tarpon hits in just one day on the Caribbean side.
On the Pacific side, after an indifferent summer and early autumn, it's also been great. Our captains tell us that the sails have moved to the South Pacific in full force, and the earlybirds have already reached the Central Pacific destinations of Quepos/Manuel Antonio and Jaco/Los Suenos.
Tim Blair, captain of the 38-foot Tres Amigos out of Los Suenos, reports that over the past couple of weeks they've been seeing as many marlin as sails. The first big international Costa Rica fishing tournament of the 2008 season is already underway there, featuring more than 40 boats this year.
Everyone is gearing up for a fine January/February/March/April, when the big sail bite takes place off the Central Pacific, and more prestigious international IGFA tournaments will be held. It's the most popular time of the year, so let me know now if you want us to help organize your complete fishing vacation or book you a couple of charters. I can be reached toll-free at 1-800-634-0012, 1-800-399-8532 and 1-866-978-5198, or by e-mail at info@americanacr.com.
If the only time you can fish is in January/February, call me right after reading this. Our top captains have very, very few open dates, especially on the larger boats out of Los Suenos.
If you can hold off until March/April (but avoid Easter week absolutely!), you’ll have a wider choice of days. However, many of the top captains out of Quepos still have spots available in January and February, so that's a very attractive option.
For the more adventurous, there's always the South Pacific, which offers the perfect combination of inshore/offshore angling. There are some really fine captains and boats fishing out of Golfito and Puerto Jimenez. One is Bobby McGuinness, chosen world's top captain of 2006 by the International Game Fish Association, on the 37-foot Cazador out of Golfito. Bobby is booked solid in February, but has lots of open days in March.
Also, I’m doing a 28-lot ocean and mountain view real estate development on the South Pacific coast. These extremely attractive properties at Lomas Coronado, which you can find at oceanviewvistas.com, range in size from one and a quarter to more than three acres. The area is absolutely gorgeous.
If you’re fishing in Los Suenos, Quepos, Puerto Jimenez or Golfito and have a free day, I'll take you there for a look. On me.
The Lomas Coronado and surrounding area is an angler's paradise. The nearby Terraba and Sierpe river deltas with their pristine mangrove jungles and over a hundred miles of rivers and canals offer marvelous inland and fresh-water fishing.
For inshore and offshore anglers, the coastline is a haven for roosters, snapper and snook, while the nearby Furuno Bank, where marlin, sails and tuna abound, is one of the best fishing grounds in all of Central America.
Lots at Lomas Coronado start at $55,000, and go up to $350,000. We're finishing off and graveling the roads, and putting in the water and electricity right now. Call me so I can tell you more about it.
Combine a great Costa Rica fishing trip with a look at our ocean view properties. Call me now toll-free at 1-800-634-0012, 1-800-399-8532 and 1-866-978-5198, or e-mail me at info@americanacr.com.
