Drake Bay is named after Sir Francis Drake. This bay is believed to be a port used by Sir Francis in the 16th century. Legend has it that the British pirate stashed much of his fabled hidden treasure there.
Drake Bay is scattered with lovely, hidden beaches and hotels – some among the first in Costa Rica – that promote eco-tourism. The Osa Peninsula has one of the world’s most intense biodiversity, and the gorgeous Corcovado National Park nearby is the jewel of the area’s nature reserves.
To get to Drake Bay fishing charters, you can fly from San José or drive (about four hours) to Palmar Norte. Head 10 miles south to the town of Sierpe. Once in Sierpe, take a water taxi or boat – most Drake Bay lodges and hotels provide this – for an enjoyable two-hour trip to Drake Bay. Or, if you want to make it easy, there are daily 45-minute flights to and from San José.

Often the best way to decide what to include in your own custom tailored sports fishing package is to see what others before you have reserved.
