Start planning now for your 2020 Costa Rica billfish adventure

August is upon us. And next come September and Labor Day. Life will take on its normal rhythm, the kids will be back at school. And then comes the big decision: exactly when to travel to Costa Rica to take advantage of the world-class billfish bite off the Central Pacific coast between December and mid-April.

Come to Costa Rica in early 2020 and catch the blue marlin you’ve always dreamed of

Thousands of people from around the world make the trip every year, many through FishCostaRica. Costa Rica’s Pacific coast is a magnet attracting anglers who want to get that marlin they have always dreamed about, or to boast of releasing 15 sailfish and more in a single day fishing offshore.

Attesting to the superb bite is that some of the world’s more prestigious and most competitive billfish tournaments take place here during those months. The nine-day, three-leg Signature Triple Crown tournament is held at Los Sueños Marina between January and March. Pez Vela Marina in Quepos hosts the four-day Offshore World Championship, usually in early or mid-April.

The release figures are astounding. And dotted in between are other billfish competitions, such as the Los Sueños Ladies Angler Tournament that made its debut in January.

Releasing 15 or more sailfish is common when the peak bite is on

This means that the top charter captains, top boats, and angler-friendly hotels at Costa Rica’s most popular sportfishing destinations on the Central Pacific Coast are in high demand from mid-December through April.

Start thinking NOW! Contact us to ensure you book Costa Rica’s top charter captains and reserve accommodation at the hotels you want at the time you want. So book early. Call FishCostaRica at 1-800-407-9438 or 858 736-9031 from the USA and Canada; +506 2282-7215 from everywhere else, or +506 7125-8852 on WhatsApp.

Once you’ve released that marlin and/or the 15 sailfish, there are all sorts of other gamefish species that you can target and catch in Costa Rica. You will probably encounter dorado (mahi-mahi) and yellowfin tuna during your billfish chase. And you might consider a day inshore for feisty roosterfish, and scrumptious grouper and snapper for the dinner table.
