The Nosara region is located on the North Pacific Coast of the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste. As the crow flies, Nosara is about 100 miles west of San Jose, and sits between the popular beach towns of Playa Samara and Playa Tamarindo.

Nosara is a chain of five beachfront villages

Come fish the Nosara area and we will help you organize your fishing charters.Nosara consists of five small beachfront towns: Playa Nosara, Playa Garza, Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada, and Playa Ostional. When many say ‘Nosara fishing’, they are usually referring to the village of Nosara itself, or to Garza, where several Costa Rica fishing captains, primarily local, maintain their operations.

The ‘official’ town center of Nosara is located about five miles inland from the beach and offers hotels, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, a pharmacy, banks, and the region’s local airport.

Nosara fishing easy trip from San José or Liberia

If you opt for a Nosara fishing charter, it is not hard to get there. Nature Air has 45-minute commuter flight from San José. Driving from San José will take you on a four/five-hour route that goes past Puntarenas over the Tempisque River bridge and then through Nicoya to Nosara. The drive from Liberia international airport takes about half that time, and passes through Santa Cruz and Nicoya and then on to the coast.

World-famous turtle nesting site

Nosara also has Costa Rica’s cleanest water table, with clean ocean water and no dumping of gray or black water into the streams or beaches. It is one of the few coastal towns that still doesn’t have a lot of development or building on the beach.

As Nosara is located on the more northern part of the Nicoya Peninsula, Nosara fishing follows the general pattern of the North Pacific coast. Marlin bite highlights Nosara fishing January-March

Sportfishing out of Nosara while visiting Costa Rica, bring many rewards to anglers visiting Nosara.Like other Costa Rica sportfishing destinations in that general area of the Nicoya Peninsula, the Nosara fishing season will see a particularly good Marlin bite between January and March. The bite tails off a little later, but anglers on Costa Rica fishing charters there will see Marlin along with the Sailfish bite throughout most of the summer.

Anglers who fish Costa Rica out of Nosara and Garza will find that the best Yellowfin Tuna bite offshore will occur between June and September, while Dorado will peak between July and October when the rains come, especially in front of the mouths of the Rio Nosara and the Rio Montoya. As everywhere along the Pacific, Wahoo are caught on Nosara fishing charters when the water is clearest.

Inshore, Nosara fishing offers a wide panorama of prized gamefish all year round. Seasons don’t change. Anglers on Costa Rica sportfishing charters with captains and guides out of Nosara will find Roosterfish; a variety of Snapper and Grouper family species; Amberjack and Almaco Jack; Sierra Mackerel, Skipjack and a host of other inshore gamefish.
